CITY OF 8, set up in 1981 as Genetic Coding, is a Belgian non-profit research association. CITY OF 8 has a goal to promote the theoretical study and the practical application of codon coding in human sign systems, i.e. the study of the process of meaning and its application in communication. She promotes to this end the research and the applications of codon coding in both sciences and arts.

The association strives for universal synthesis by integration of acoustic, visual, motorial and other means of expression and by breaking up existing cultural separations. By setting up cooperation bonds and group projects CITY OF 8 promotes national and international cultural cooperation, to show the possibilities of codon coding and to develop universal applications.

City of 8 shares its expertise with companies and institutions through its range of training, services and tools.
